2019 TPgrand OLAThe alpine LAkes Observatory hosts research projects studying the processes (biological, physico-chemical, geochemical) that underlie the functioning and evolution of lake systems. The four large natural peri-alpine lakes (Annecy, Le Bourget, Aiguebelette and Lake Geneva) are at the centre of this observatory, which provides data on the state and ecological functioning of lake systems under anthropogenic and climatic pressures.

The platform provides the following services to scientists:

  • An in situ ecosystem experimentation service;
  • Instrumentation for the long-term monitoring of these ecosystems and the in situ measurement of environmental parameters;
  • Devices and tools for collecting samples and data on the ecosystems studied.
